The short version
- Anyone on the internet can see: the name you show, your photo, tagline, about text, service, city and area, rates, availability, services list, course badges, website, and approved reviews. On requests: first name, what is needed, area, budget and date.
- Only signed-in members can see: your phone number, email, Messenger, Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram and LINE details, your ward and stake, and phone numbers on requests.
- Only you (and the site admin, when needed) can see: your sign-in email, messages people send you, your saved list, your notifications and your view counts.
We don't sell your information, show ads, or use tracking cookies. You can change or remove your profile, or delete your whole account, at any time from your dashboard.
1. Who we are
Self-Reliance Directory (selfreliance.directory) is a free, volunteer-run community project that helps members of the Church in the Philippines find and offer services. It is not an official product of, and is not run by, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The person responsible for your information (the “personal information controller” under the Data Privacy Act of 2012, Republic Act No. 10173) is Insomniac Systems, which runs the site. You can reach us by sending us a message through the contact form.
2. What we collect
- Account: your email address and sign-in details (or your Google account name and email if you use Google sign-in). We never see your Google password.
- Profile (only if you create one): your name and display name, photo and logo, tagline, about text, service category, specific services, rates, availability, years of experience, region, city, area and barangay, website, and the contact details you choose to add.
- Church details (optional): your ward, stake and self-reliance courses completed.
- Messages:when someone uses “Send a message”, we store their name, the phone or email they give, and their message, so the member can reply.
- Reviews and requests: the name, rating and comment on a review; the name, phone, service, area, budget and description on a request.
- Messages to us: when you use our contact form, we store the topic and your message, plus your name and the email or phone number you give for a reply, if you add them. If you are signed in, we also note which account sent it.
- Usage: a count of how many times each profile is viewed (date and source only, not who viewed it). Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
3. Why we use it
- To show your profile in the directory so members can find and contact you.
- To pass messages, reviews and requests to the right member, and to notify you about them.
- To read and answer the messages you send us through the contact form.
- To keep the site safe: stopping spam, fake reviews and misuse.
- To understand, in total numbers, how the directory is used so we can improve it.
We use your information because you chose to give it to us and agreed to this policy when you created your account or profile (consent), and to keep the site secure (legitimate interest).
Your ward, stake and courses can show your religious affiliation, which the Data Privacy Act treats as sensitive personal information. Adding them is always optional, they are shown only to signed-in members, and you can remove them at any time.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information. We use a few trusted services to run the site:
- Supabasestores the database, sign-ins and photos, on Supabase's cloud servers, which may be outside the Philippines.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- FormSubmit delivers messages from our contact form to us by email.
- Google, only if you choose “Continue with Google”. See Google's Privacy Policy.
These services may store data outside the Philippines. We may also share information if the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
- Your profile:until you remove it. “Remove my profile” (on the Edit profile page) takes it off the directory straight away.
- Your account:until you delete it. “Delete my account” (at the bottom of your dashboard) deletes straight away your sign-in account, your profile and photos, messages people sent you, reviews on your page and reviews you wrote, your saved list, your notifications and your requests. If you can't sign in, send us a message through the contact form and we will do it for you within 30 days.
- Messages and reviews: deleted with the profile they belong to.
- Requests: deleted automatically 90 days after they are posted. You can close yours sooner.
- Messages to us: deleted automatically one year after you send them.
- Backups:copies may remain in our providers' automatic backups for a short period (usually up to 30 days) before they're overwritten.
6. Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act you have the right to:
- be told how your information is used (this page);
- see the information we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- correct it (most of it you can edit yourself in your dashboard);
- object to its use, or have it removed or blocked;
- withdraw your consent at any time by removing your profile or deleting your account;
- complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph) if you think we have misused your information.
To use any of these rights, send us a message through the contact formand choose “Privacy or account request”. We aim to reply within 15 days.
7. Keeping it safe
The site uses HTTPS. Database rules make sure members can only change their own profile, and contact details are only given to signed-in members. Photos are shrunk and stored without the original camera details where the phone allows. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.
8. Cookies
We only use cookies the site needs to work: one to keep you signed in, and one to remember whether you chose English or Tagalog. No advertising or tracking cookies.
9. Age
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or profile.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. For important changes we will also let members know on the site.
11. Contact
Questions or requests: send us a message through the contact form.
